Tuesday Mar 17, 2020
This week I chat with Sons Of Daughters. They have a new single "I Picture You" out now. We talk about where they were musically, strange jobs the've had, and what food they NEED to have when coming back to Canada.
The track is an impactful ballad with a catchy, pop-meets-country vibe. Drawing from personal experiences, the song evokes nostalgic feelings of happiness and longing when reflecting on fond memories of a loved one.
“We wanted to capture the timeless and heartfelt notion of “the one who got away””, said Chrystal Leigh and Jimmy Thow. “Sometimes you lose touch with people you were once close with and every so often you catch yourself thinking about them. This song is the answer to the universal question: I wonder if they ever think of me?”
Thow and Leigh co-wrote the track alongside Gavin Slate and Travis “T-Buck” Wood in Nashville. It was co-produced by Thow and Grammy and CMA nominated producer Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne).
The single comes on the heels of the duo’s debut EP “Love In A Bar”, a compilation of six unique tracks, which has amassed more than 2 million streams worldwide since its release in July 2019. The group found success with their first single "Ain't Gonna be Lonely Long", which reached Billboard's Top 15, and peaked at #12 at Canadian country radio.
2019 proved to be a successful year for Sons of Daughters. The duo was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2019 CCMA Awards in Calgary and were finalists in the 2019 SiriusXM Top of the Country competition. Thow continues to make a name for himself as a skilled songwriter, co-writing Tebey’s smash hit “Good Jeans” which reached #2 at Canadian country radio.

This week we chat with Beamer Wigley about his new single "Crazy Being Crazy".
Born in 2002, Beamer started playing guitar when he was 5 years old, and as he loves to tell his audiences, that was when he first saw Keith Urban in the video “Start A Band” with Brad Paisley. He turned to his Mom and said “I want to learn to play guitar. I want to be just like Keith Urban”. So he got his first guitar and started lessons.
He wrote his first song at the age of 7, and that same year started singing and playing guitar, wowing audiences everywhere he went.
When he was 9, he took first place at the Vancouver P.N.E. ‘Star Showdown’ in the youth category, against contestants from all across British Columbia. He also performed major roles in numerous stage musicals, as well as the 4th lead roll in the Norman Rockwell movie, “A Christmas Tail”.
At just the age of 11, he was awarded the inaugural Penticton Youth Arts Award for ages 25 and under.
In November 2015, he was thrilled to be awarded membership in The Brotherhood Of The Guitar, a group of highly talented musicians from many parts of the world. In addition, he also received a sponsorship from Music Man/Ernie Ball guitars.
His talents received recognition from some major Canadian Country Music artists for whom he got the opening slot, including 3 times each for both George Canyon and Brett Kissel, as well as Aaron Pritchett. He also got to open for Dwight Yoakam in 2018, which started as a 20 minute set and ended up becoming a 65 minute fill in performance to an appreciative audience. U.S. artist Granger Smith also had him as part of his Western Canadian Tour.
Beamer has been writing steadily both on his own and down in Nashville, spending over 2 years with legendary song writer Keith Follese and his wife Adrienne. On July 6th 2018, he released third new single “Roller Coaster” followed up in June 2019 with “I Knew”.

Wednesday Feb 12, 2020
This week we chat with Canadian music legend Alan Doyle. He has a new single, new EP and a coast to coast tour.
“‘We Don’t Wanna Go Home’ is about the greatest night of your life being interrupted by the tolling of the last call bell at the pub. The speakers in the song cry the most desperate plea to the publican to keep the place open for at least one more round,” Doyle says.
Doyle co-wrote the song with Donovan Woods and Todd Clark. Doyle and Brody reunite again, having previously released the song “Soggy Bottom Waters” from Brody’s 2016 album Beautiful Freakshow, and “It’s Friday” from 2012’s Dirt.
“I am so glad the stars aligned and we got together with a bunch of pals to sing and shout ‘We Don’t Wanna Go Home.’"
As a solo artist and a member of Great Big Sea, Alan has gotten 360,000 spins and 1.8 billion audience impressions on Canadian radio. The songwriter, producer, actor and author is a 12-time JUNO Award nominee for his solo material and work with his iconic band Great Big Sea. Like a moth to a flame, country music fans are drawn to the warmth and charm of Donny Lee. A down-to-earth guy who knows no stranger, the Canadian / Nashville-based songwriter and performer has been using his musical gift since singing with his parents band as a young adult, and still strums the 65 Gibson Hummingbird his father taught him to play. Donny Lee’s magnetic personality is not only a perfect fit for the stage, he also makes every single audience member feel like they are at their own personal concert, no matter what size the venue. Regularly invited back to perform at festivals and fairs, it is Donny Lee’s mission to ensure his fans have the best time possible at his shows. For the past several years, Donny has become a very popular performer in Nashville, playing famous honkytonks such as Tootsie’s World Famous Orchid Lounge, while promoting himself as a Country artist. Reviewers and locals alike say that Donny Lee is a must see performer in Nashville, and making his show part of your trip to the city is essential to the experience. Currently working on his third album in Nashville with Victoria Goodvin and Greg Bates along with Nashville publishing companies, set to release next year, Donny Lee released his first album titled ‘Who I Am’ in 2017. His follow up album ‘Better Believe It’ was produced by CCMA Award-winning producer Bart McKay, and released in Fall 2018. Syd Carter West
Monday Jan 13, 2020
Monday Jan 13, 2020
This week I introduce you to a new Canadian artist Syd Carter West
Canadian singer/songwriter Syd Carter West knew music was her passion when she sang her first tune at the age of two, humming to music on the radio such as Deana Carter (her first favourite song being Strawberry Wine), Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, Amanda Marshall and more. Syd started vocal training at the age of seven and began to write her own lyrics and melodies shortly after. After years of dedication to her vocal training, Syd started integrating her powerful and fierce vocals into Country/Rock music, this inspired Syd to master the free-spirited techniques of Classic Rock with a fearless vocal range and daring stage presence, but still channeling emotive storytelling and down to earth roots of Country. When one listens to Syd's music, you will be struck by her hauntingly beautiful and rich voice. Her ability to play and embellish with her wide vocal range allows Syd's lyrics to have more meaning. Syd writes with deep emotion, giving voice to those feelings that most of us have a difficult time expressing. Syd wants to motivate listeners to unapologetically embrace who they are meant to be through the music and performances that she provides. Now releasing Country music videos and new songs, Syd is honing into her craft of becoming one of British Columbia's few Country artist
